Hudson Scott appeared back in February with the attention-grabbingly cool 'Clay', a track that immediately outlined what the newcomer was about. Now, the relatively unknown Oxford talent has revealed a second funk-fuelled release in the shape of 'Whale'. All smooth and loungey, it is another groove that positions him amongst the likes of Formation and Jungle. Once again his languid droll offsets the intricate, disco dancing rhythms and sparkling production in this gloriously uplifting new cut. Taking inspiration from Arthur Russell, Bowie and pop power ballads, it's clear that Scott has an enormously exciting future ahead of him; we'll be watching carefully. -G.O'B
